Rangitoto Island Walk

On Friday 20 September, over 100 Sport Auckland’s Green Prescription clients and 23 Asian clients from ActivAsian programme took the ferry and had a walk on Rangitoto Island.  This opportunity was to acknowledge Green Prescription clients’ great efforts and perseverance to improve their health condition and to inspire the Asian new immigrants to live healthy and active lifestyles while better connect to NZ society.

Clients from ActivAsian also celebrated the Moon Festival with moon cakes.  In Southeast Asia, the Moon Festival (known as mid-Autumn Festival in the northern hemisphere) is a time to celebrate the arrival of the new moon with colourful lanterns, and enjoy family reunion time.  The walk, therefore, had a special meaning to the Asian clients who said they consider New Zealand their second home.
