BOARD MEMBERS (2) - SPORT AUCKLAND

Sport Auckland is a Charitable Regional Sports Trust with a vision to inspire our communities to live healthy active lifestyles. To achieve our vision we focus on delivering play, sport, active recreation and health initiatives within our communities.

As a volunteer Board Member, you will play a pivotal role in setting and delivering on the strategic direction and governance of Sport Auckland. Our Board meets monthly (with the exception of December-January) for two-hour meetings at Sport Auckland. We proudly hold the Sport NZ Good Governance Mark accreditation.

IDEAL APPLICANT

We are seeking individuals who can resonate with our vision and who are passionate about making a positive difference within our local communities. You will be well connected within our Central and East Auckland communities.

Successful applicants will ideally have governance experience and a strong understanding of the charitable, not-for-profit sector. Further, in this cycle, we are looking for experience in one or more of the following areas:-

Te Ao Māori /Māori world view

  • Finance and Accounting (preferably a member of CAANZ)
  • Marketing and Communications
  • Strong Stakeholder relationships
  • Connectivity to and understanding of play and active recreation settings for our tamariki and rangatahi
  • Human Resources
  • Public health and wellbeing.

DIVERSITY

COMMUNITY SPORT ADVISOR - ACTIVASIAN (HOWICK)

Do you have a passion “to inspire our communities to live healthy active lives”?

We are seeking a motivated, compassionate and well- connected individual to join our Community Sport Team who will be responsible for coordinating our ActivAsian programme in Howick.

Our well-respected Community Sport Team is tasked with increasing community participation in sport, play and active recreation within our communities of activity. As part of the Community Sport Team, the Community Sport Advisor - ActivAsian  role focuses on being well connected within our Asian community to educate providers of physical activity about the value and benefits of sport, and active recreation.  

To be considered for this role you will possess:

  • A strong understanding of NZ’s biculturism, Te Tiriti o Waitangi and our cultural diversity
  • A passion, drive and affinity to work alongside our Asian community
  • Qualifications in sport, events, marketing or business
  • Experience delivering or coordinating community programmes that promote healthy active lifestyles  
  • A sound understanding of Sport Auckland’s role within the community.  
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office
